UAFS Move-In Day – Fall 2014

University of Arkansas-Fort Smith students will move into campus housing August 14-16 with help from fellow students and UAFS staff around campus, including Dr. Paul B. Beran-UAFS chancellor.

Beran and UAFS First Lady Janice Beran will be there to assist with move-in efforts at 9 a.m. August 15 at the Lion’s Den-two of the many volunteers that will help in the three day moving-period. Volunteers are currently signing up for the time slots to help move-in efforts at both the Lion’s Den and Sebastian Commons.

Beth Eppinger, director of housing and residential life, said volunteers are much needed.

“Move-in is a time of high emotions, and having a volunteer literally lift the weight of the day off a student or parent communicates the level of care UAFS has for its students,” she said. “Fall move-in days are an exciting campus tradition where students and parents greatly appreciate the enthusiasm and assistance of the volunteers.”

Beran said volunteering on move-in day is a way to show students he cares about their success.

“Moving onto a college campus as a student is very exciting, but it can also be very daunting,” he said. “So I want to make sure that we’re showing our students that we care about them and their success at this university.”

Members of the Chancellor’s Move-In Crew will be wearing yellow T-shirts, and will help with greetings, traffic, unloading cars and transporting belongings to student housing.
