The Greenwood Tradition Travels

Greenwood’s Charles Dodd is in service in the United States Coast Guard. He was recently assigned to the Coast Guard Cutter Bailey Barco. The Bailey Barco is the 22nd of the 154-foot Fast Response Cutters in the Coast Guard fleet. She was accepted into the Fleet in a ceremony in Key West, Florida on February 7, 2017. She will be commissioned and homeported in Ketchikan, Alaska on June 14, 2017. Her crew will require cold weather dry suits in the icy waters there and endure routine testing of those suits.

Charles Dodd is a member of the crew and made the 6,200-mile journey from Key West to Ketchikan through the Panama Canal.

Charles took along his hometown newspaper and sent us a photo during the Panama Canal passage. Charles is the son of Nancy and Bob Dodd of Greenwood. The Greenwood Tradition really travels!
