Greenwood High School senior Eli Lasalle has been recognized as a National Merit Finalist.

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955.  High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the PSAT test during their junior year.  To become a Finalist, Lasalle had to submit a detailed scholarship application, which included an essay and information about his participation and leadership in school and community activities.  He also had to earn SAT scores that confirm his earlier performance on the PSAT.  Lasalle will now be eligible to win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.

“This is one of the highest academic awards a student can receive and Eli is well deserving of the honor,” stated Lisa Dean, Counselor.  Eli plans on pursuing a degree in engineering.  He is the son of William and Ruth Lasalle.
