Frank Gibbons of Mansfield, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, April 82017 in a hospital in Fayetteville.  Frank was born on October 17, 1940 to Ozelle and James Gibbons in Stratford, Oklahoma. He grew up in the Oklahoma City area and graduated with a degree in commercial art from Muskogee University.  Frank worked as a commercial artist for many years. Frank worked as an artist for several television stations and ultimately transitioned to work in front of and behind the camera for Oklahoma public television.  Frank met his wife Linda on a blind date and they stayed happily married for 47 years.  In 1975, they moved to the Fort Smith area and finally settled in the Mansfield area. Frank was known for his ability as a detailed carpenter who built his own house on his Lighthorse Ranch.  He found an outlet for his artistic talents in stained glass, painting, and leatherwork. Frank enjoyed meeting new people and was an accomplished competitive shooter.  He had a love of the old west, history in general, horses, and the outdoors provided him with his lifelong passions.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Gibbons; his adopted son and daughter in law, Dan and Cheryl Nelson and two grandchildren, Connor and Chayla.  Frank will be missed by his many friends and neighbors for his love and generosity, as well as his knowledge and abilities.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m., Thursday, April 13 at Greenwood First Baptist Church under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
