Dennis Wisner Named Greenwood Officer of the Year for 2013

Greenwood Police Department Honors Officer Dennis Wisner “2013 Officer of the Year”

In December 2009, Officer Dennis Wisner joined the Greenwood Police Department. He had only recently retired from the United States Army serving his country for 21 years. Wisner served in Operation Desert Storm in 1991 and also in the initial invasion in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. He was awarded the Bronze Star with the “V” device following Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In December, Officer Wisner earned the designation “2013 Officer of the Year” by the Greenwood Police Department receiving the award from Greenwood Chief of Police Will Dawson. The Greenwood Tradition had been made aware of the selection of Officer Wisner, but our December 18th issue would have spoiled the surprise the day of the presentation’s announcement.

Officer Wisner is married to Marsha Wisner and they have three children ranging ages 9 to 15 years.

Greenwood is lucky that Officer Wisner chose Law Enforcement as a second career. He is a certified Drug Recognition Expert and is partnered with K-9 Kina.

We offer our belated congratulations to Officer Dennis Wisner and his family and join the community in extending our sincere best wishes.
