Bulldogs’ reunion planned for June 6-7

By Richard White

Anyone who really knows Greenwood High School football understands that the current string of successful seasons can be traced back to the mid-1990s with the arrival of head coach Ronnie Peacock and wife Martina. Sadly, Martina has since passed away after a long battle with cancer, but Coach Peacock is returning to Greenwood in early June for a reunion with his former players.

Ronnie Peacock arrived in Greenwood for the 1994 season and stayed until the spring of 2001, leading the Bulldogs to two state title game appearances, winning the state championship in his final season in 2000 before leaving to take over the head coaching job at Rogers High School.

On June 6-7 Coach Peacock will be reunited with many of his former players at the Burton Ranch, including the graduating classes from 1995 to 2003. The Friday June 6th event is only for former players and coaches, all of who are invited to come early. The Saturday June 7th festivities will begin with a 7-on-7 Peacock player alumni tournament beginning at 9 a.m. at Greenwood’s Smith-Robinson Stadium.

Sign up for the event will be Friday night with the brackets determined at that time. Efforts will be made to put everyone in their own graduating class, but some may have to be combined. Coach Peacock will be in attendance for the tournament and everyone is invited to attend and watch the fun.

Any of Coach Peacock’s former players are invited to take part in the reunion. If you have questions please call: Beau Ames at 479-806-0688, Terral Meeker at 479-883-1328, or Joshua Burton at 479-806-5309. Anyone with pictures of Bulldog football from 1994-2000 can email them to for use at the reunion.
