Audrey Dicia Townley Obituary

Audrey Dicia Townley

Audrey Dicia Townley, 92 went to heaven Wednesday, January 8, 2014.  She was born June 13, 1921 in the Fidelty community near Greenwood. She was saved, baptized and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was married to Fred Townley for 57 years before his passing 18 years ago.

She was momma to Audrey Janet Pearcy of Van Buren, Freddy Townley and daughter-in-law Mary, of Greenwood and Shirley Young and son-in-law Troy of Van Buren. She was Granny to 14 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren.

While raising her children, she worked at a full time job outside the home. She would put in many long hours canning and freezing all kinds of fruits and vegetables that Fred would raise in the garden. She was known for her good cooking and delicious pies. She was a very good seamstress and made many of the kids’ clothes, plus things for her home. She took care of the injuries, ailments, and haircuts. All these things she did, not only for her family, but for the neighborhood kids as well. She was a blessing to anyone she could help.

She never stopped taking pride in her appearance. She won Miss Photogenic at Alma Health and Rehabilitation Home in 2010. She loved when Shirley and Mary would fix her hair, nails, and put on her lipstick. She would smile so sweetly when we told her she was our pretty little momma.

Visitation and a time of remembrance was held 1:00 – 2:30 p.m., Saturday, January 11 at McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood. There was a private family interment.
