Arkansas Economic Development Commission Holds Meeting in Greenwood

The Governor appointed members of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission holds meetings regularly with the Commission Director and the Little Rock staff to conduct the business that comes before the Commission.

Grant proposals, regulatory issues and pending legislation are routinely on their agendas. The Commission holds its meetings in the Capital City, but has the option of meeting in other cities around the state if invited to do so.

In addition to its regular business session, the commission can share tips on economic development, job creation and job retention with the area. The Commission can play a significant role in helping a community with industrial expansion. Grants can sometimes be obtained from them for economic and industrial development.

The Commissioners arrived from all over the state on Wednesday and were treated to a bus tour of the City as well as a cocktail reception at “Chateau on the Green” where music was provided by high school students. A dinner for the commissioners was held at the Sen. Ed Wilkinson Pavilion in Greenwood’s Bell Park. Greenwood Chamber of Commerce President Norman Wilkinson of Farmers Bank welcomed the commissioners to the dinner catered by Tina Skaggs and attended by some Chamber of Commerce members and three City Councilmen.
