Mrs. Joann King's AP Chemistry Class happy to be finished with AP Exam!

Area Businesses Support Advanced Placement Students

The GHS AP (Advanced Placement) chemistry students endured the rigors of an annual examination administered by the College Board that also administers the ACT exam. The exam given Monday was the equivalent of a college placement exam for Ms. Joann King’s 27 students.

Local businesses agreed to help ease the tension of the day. Greenwood’s Taco Bell provided breakfast for the students at 7:00 a.m. before testing began. The students were treated to a mid-morning snack of protein bars, orange juice and chocolate milk courtesy of CV’s Family Foods in Greenwood.

The testing was administered in the GHS campus tornado shelter. When lunchtime came, pizza was provided by Pizza Hut in Greenwood for the students.

AP exams are in six categories. The tests are administered nationally at the same time. Even students studying in foreign countries take the exam all competing against each other.

T-Shirts were made available to the students at a special price courtesy of Monograms &More to be worn during testing. The Greenwood Tradition salutes these local businesses in their support of academics at GHS. The students, parents and school district appreciate the support.
