Eagle Scout Project Unveiled

The South Sebastian County Historical Society, friends and family joined Michael Doss of Greenwood’s Boy Scout Troop #1989 in the presentation of his Eagle Scout Project-the newly crafted front porch of the Vineyard Cabin at Greenwood’s downtown Historical District.

Moved to Greenwood from its original location on Highway 10 west of town, the Vineyard Cabin is a focal point of the Historical Society’s display of pioneer life. Many volunteers through the years dedicated countless hours to the moving and restoration of the cabin-none more than Louise and Vernon Stewart. The Stewart’s have been officers, directors and volunteers of the Sebastian County Historical Society. They have been a leading force in volunteer efforts in Greenwood and have since retired to Texas.

Michael Doss has dedicated the newly constructed front porch to Vernon and Louise Stewart honoring their tireless commitment to the betterment of Greenwood. Louise Stewart asked Michael over two years ago to restore the porch if the opportunity arose.

Michael was presented with citations by Mayor Doug Kinslow and State Representative Charlotte Douglas who also presented Michael with a flag that flew over the Arkansas Capitol Building in Little Rock.

Also attending the ceremony was Ron Stewart, son Vernon and Louise Stewart, who came from Texas for the dedication of the new porch.

The Greenwood Tradition joins the community in congratulating Michael Doss on this milestone in Scouting, his contribution to Greenwood and his appreciation for the kindness and commitment of Louise and Vernon Stewart.
